As System Developer for the Performance Measurement group I have the responsibility for designing and developing new functionality.
A job focusing on both IT and finance was what I was looking for when I graduated from university, and SimCorp has definitely lived up to my expectations. I get involved with the financial side of our product on a day-to-day basis, as we focus on delivering software solutions to some of the leading financial institutions in the world. I mostly get in touch with our clients through our consultants who provides information regarding client needs, and once in a while, I’m on the support team where I am able to see the setup they have and how we can improve their processes.
I have an educational background within mathematics and statistics applied to the financial world SimCorp operates in. I had a little programming knowledge when I first started working here and from a technical point of view this has turned out to be a very helpful background. As I am also truly interested in finance, I find my job in SimCorp has the perfect combination of IT and finance that I had been looking for.
Did you find it difficult to start working at SimCorp?
No, I did not find it difficult to start working in SimCorp as I was offered a really good introduction programme and also had a coach to guide me through my first year. My coach served as my point of contact and was able to answer all the questions I had. The fact that people here are very positive and helpful, together with my manager’s interest in my personal development, have made it very easy for me to start working in SimCorp straight after university.
How has your career
developed in your time with SimCorp?
I think I have gained a lot of knowledge and competencies in my time with SimCorp. I have become well acquainted with our product and our clients, and I have become a skilful programmer. On a personal level, I find that I have developed as a person, and I really enjoy the international and client-orientated environment we have here at SimCorp, both enabling me to gain a lot of new perspectives on things.
What do you think is the best
thing about working with SimCorp?
The work environment is really good here. SimCorp is a company that offers empowerment and values team spirit and honesty, so I can always say what I think, and we openly share ideas and help each other reach our common goals. To a large extent, I have the flexibility to plan and prioritise my workday. In SimCorp I feel I am part of something bigger, and I know I make a difference. These are things I value and make SimCorp a great place to work.
